Bobcats Grind to 87-80 Win Over Jamestown

BUFFALO, NY - It wasn't always pretty, but the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats got the job done, defeating Jamestown Community College 87-80 on Thursday night inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center to get back on the winning track and improve to 4-1 on the season.  Senior Jonathan Range led all scorers with 23 points as the Bobcats had three players score in double-figures, and had 10 players play double-figure minutes.

Range scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half as the Bobcats outscored the Jayhawks by 10 over the final 20 minutes.  Jamestown edged the Bobcats by one rebound overall but the Bobcats had the 18-11 edge on the offensive end, including 11-3 in the second half.

THE FAST BREAK

• BSC Buffalo jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after back-to-back threes by senior Mick Snowden.
• The Bobcats maintained the lead and increased it to seven points (14-7) at the 12:49 mark after two free throws by junior Tyrell Mitchell.
• After the lead dwindled to just two points as times, the Bobcats pushed it back up to seven (30-27) at the 5:49 mark after a layup by senior Jordan Street.
• Jamestown used a 6-0 run to get within one and took its first lead of the game (37-36) with 1:07 left in the half.
• JCC closed the half on a 17-7 run.
• Snowden opened the second half the same way he started the first, putting home another one of his six made triples to tie the game at 40.
• BSC Buffalo regained the lead briefly just over three minutes in.  The two teams traded the lead for a few minutes until the game was tied at 56 with 12:40 left.
• Freshman Davon Ware broke that tie on a layup through traffic and Range converted two free throws to give the Bobcats a four-point edge (60-56).  
• JCC tied the game at 62 again moments later and then took a one-point lead after a three-point play, but it was Snowden to the rescue once again, hitting yet another three and giving the Bobcats the final lead change of the game.

BOBCAT BUCKETS

• In addition to 23 points, Range added five rebounds three assists, two steals and a block.
• Snowden finished with 20 points on 6-of-12 from long range, and six rebounds.
• Mitchell stuffed the stat sheet off the bench, scoring 16 points and adding six rebounds, five steals, four assists and a block.  He was 5-of-10 from the floor.
• Devin Redden gave the Bobcats key miniutes down the stretch as the forward finished with five points, six rebounds (five offensive).  Freshman Davon Ware also gave the Bobcats good minites off the bench, scoring seven points and coming up with two steals in 24 minutes.
• BSC Buffalo forced 25 turnovers and turned them directly into 21 points.
• The Bobcats held the edge in second chance points (18-11) and bench points (32-21).
• Isaac Allen led JCC with 21 points.

WHAT THEY SAID

"We got a tough win and that's all that really matters," BSC Buffalo Head Coach Damone Brown said.  "We still have a lot of work to do and areas to clean up.  Our focus needs to be getting better every day.  Every drill, every movement, every day is an opportunity to get better."

UP NEXT

The Bobcats will hit the road for their final game in the month of November, a Tuesday night matchup with Villa Maria College ar 6:30 p.m.
