Perry Announces Coaching Staff for 2019-20 Season
BUFFALO, NY – Bryant & Stratton Buffalo head women's basketball coach Brittnee Perry has announced that Tawan Slaughter and Justin Stokes will join her staff for the program's 2019-20 inaugural season.
The Buffalo Bobcats will kick off their season on November 2ndand now have a completed coaching staff. Perry is looking forward to working with both Slaughter and Stokes and thinks what they both bring to the table complement each other well.
"I was looking for coaches who would help us build a solid foundation here at BSC Buffalo," Perry said. "I definitely found that in Tawan and Justin. With their knowledge of the game and ability to relate to our student-athletes, it seems like the perfect fit."
Slaughter brings experience at all different levels of basketball including high school, college and professional. Most recently she served as the head girls basketball coach at Christian Central Academy where she led the Crusaders to the Monsignor Martin Class B Championship in 2019. They finished with an overall record of 13-5 with a 10-2 mark in league play.
She also served as the head coach and general manager of the ABA and IBA professional franchise, the Buffalo 716ers from 2013-2016. Slaughter's other experience includes stints as the boys basketball coach at King Center Charter School, the girls coach at Oracle Charter School, the boys coach at Oracle and an assistant at Erie Community College.
As a player, Slaughter played at SUNY Fredonia and Buffalo State College. Following her college career, she received numerous professional workouts, some with WNBA franchises. She graduated high school from Christian Central Academy, where she scored 2,256 career points.
Slaughter owns a bachelor's degree in communications from Buffalo State and a master's degree in education from Canisius College.
Stokes comes to Bryant & Stratton Buffalo after an outstanding career as a player. After beginning his career at Buffalo State, Stokes went on to score 1,000 points and graduate from Villa Maria College in 2018. In those three years, he led the Vikings to two national tournament appearances and one national runner-up finish. He was named to the Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC) All-Defensive Team in 2018 and was also earned USCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors the same year.
At Villa working under hall-of-fame head coach Don Silveri, Stokes was responsible for practice planning, gameday coaching, recruiting and player development. He is also a graduate of Villa, completing his bachelor's degree in psychology.
