Barclay's Big Night Paces Buffalo Bobcats in Lopsided Victory
BUFFALO, NY - A huge night from Danyea Barclay helped lead the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats to an 88-61 win over Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Wednesday night inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. It is the second win in as many games for BSC Buffalo as Barclay was instrumental, scoring a game-high 32 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
BUFFALO, NY - A huge night from Danyea Barclay helped lead the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats to an 88-61 win over Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Wednesday night inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. It is the second win in as many games for BSC Buffalo as Barclay was instrumental, scoring a game-high 32 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Buffalo entered the game hot off a program-opening 69-64 over Fisher College last Saturday. The Bobcats picked up right where they left off, this time shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three. Barclay was 12-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line.
THE FAST BREAK
- The Buffalo Bobcats never trailed as Barclay scored the first bucket of the game.
- BSC Buffalo led 28-11 after the first quarter and took a 42-27 lead into halftime.
- They held Syracuse to just 22.6 percent shooting in the first half.
- Buffalo really opened the game open in the second half, opening up a 58-33 lead with just over a minute left in the third quarter.
- Buffalo held Syracuse to 27.3 percent shooting from the floor, and 16.7 percent from three for the game.
BOBCAT NOTES
- Buffalo won the battle in almost every statistical category.
- Buffalo out-rebounded Syracuse 53-40 and had 24 assists to Syracuse' eight.
- Buffalo's bench edged out those of Syracuse 16-12.
- Junior guard Shamecca Minor scored 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. She also added three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
- Junior Alissa Johnson was the third Buffalo Bobcat in double-figures. A game after scoring a team-high 21, she added 12 points in this game to go along with two rebounds, two assists and three steals.
- Janae Brannon once again stuffed the stat sheet. She dished out a game-high 11 assists and also finished with seven rebounds, five steals and four points.
- Freshman Alexus Pagan had another good game, going a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor. She scored eight points and secured three rebounds.
- Buffalo overcame 24 turnovers. They did force 17 and turned them into 28 points.
WHAT THEY SAID
"We started the game with great energy and it carried us through the whole game," BSC Buffalo Head Coach Brittnee Perry said. "Danyea (Barclay) was a beast inside and our team did a good job of executing the game plan. I was happy to see Shamecca (Minor) get it going offensively too. She is going to be a big piece of what we want to do going forward."
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will play their third straight home game to open the season when they host perennial USCAA powerhouse University of Maine at Fort Kent on Friday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for BSC students with an ID, and free for kids 12 and under.
