Bobcats Fall in Hard-Fought 79-74 Loss to ECC
BUFFALO, NY - A late three-point attempt to tie was off the mark as the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats dropped a hard-fought battle to the Erie Community College Kats 79-74 on Tuesday night inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. The Kats came into the game ranked 11th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Poll while the Bobcats were fourth in the last United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I National Poll.
BUFFALO, NY - A late three-point attempt to tie was off the mark as the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats dropped a hard-fought battle to the Erie Community College Kats 79-74 on Tuesday night inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. The Kats came into the game ranked 11th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Poll while the Bobcats were fourth in the last United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I National Poll.
The Bobcats had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but a deep three from senior Mick Snowden was slightly off the mark. The Bobcats battled furiously in the second half, coming back from down 16 points, but couldn't complete the comeback, falling to 7-2 on the season. The Bobcats and Kats split the season series 1-1 as BSC Buffalo took an earlier season-battle 100-95.
BOBCAT BUCKETS
- Senior Jonathan Range scored a game-high 21 points and secured 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
- Senior Mick Snowden scored 10 points and had two threes in just 13 minutes.
- Damone Brown Jr. scored 10 points and corralled five rebounds off the bench.
- Senior Jabari Hibbert dished out six assists and had three rebounds and a steal.
- Taijay Williams scored nine points on three triples off the bench.
- BSC Buffalo edged ECC on the glass 42-31 and had 15 offensive rebounds.
- ECC shot 21 free throws to BSC's 15. ECC made 16 and BSC made 12.
- The Bobcats had 20 turnovers to ECC's 14.
- Jason Mixon added seven points and eight rebounds off the bench.
- Ahamadou Fofana led ECC with 20 points.
WHAT THEY SAID
"We battled hard throughout against a really good team but just made some mistakes that came back to bite us," BSC Buffalo Head Coach Damone Brown said. "We're continuing to learn and grow as a team and losing tough games can be a turning point if used the right way. We have to get better and come back even more hungry."
UP NEXT
BSC Buffalo will be back in action on Saturday when they host Bryant & Stratton Albany at 3 p.m. inside the BFAC. Buffalo won last year's season series 3-0 over Albany. Albany is currently 6-4 this season and ranked eighth in the latest coaches poll.
