"I'm extremly excited to have Shy join our program and I'm even more excited to have the chance to coach him," Brown said. "He brings experience and toughness which are two things we need to help us reach our ultimate goal of winning a championship. Shy also plays with an edge, something that I personally love. I have no doubt that he will come in, work as hard as anyone and be a major piece to our puzzle."
Last year at UMPI, Dix, the Stamford, CT native, averaged 16.8 points per game and shot better than 38 percent from three. He led the team in scoring, rebounding (6.5), assists (4.0), steals (1.8). The 5-foot-11 guard was all over the floor, constantly grabbing rebounds, diving on the floor and hitting big shots. He was selected to the North Atlantic Conference All-Conference First Team and led the Owels to the conference tournament semifinals.
As a sophomore at UMPI, Dix led the team in scoring again, netting 17.2 points per game and shot better than 40 percent from long range. He averaged 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals as well. Dix played his freshman year at North Platte Community College in Nebraska where he averaged 10.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
Dix joins the Bobcats squad that finished the 2019-20 season with a 19-11 record and advanced to it's second straight United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament. He joins an already bolstered 2020 recruiting class which features Buffalo's Eric Waters and Gerald Bibbs, and Medina, NY native Lonnie Taylor. Back-to-back Second Team All American Tyrell Mitchell is also set to return for his senior season.
