Bobcats Race to Dominant Season-Opening Win
BUFFALO, NY - Six players scored in double-figures as senior Kalon Kimble led the way with 21 points and 16 rebounds, helping lead the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats to a 99-93 win to open the 2023-24 season on Saturday. The Bobcats erupted for 58 points in the first half and coasted to the win in day one of the Buffalo Bobcat Kickoff Classic inside the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
Kimble was 9-15 from the floor and had 6 of his 16 rebounds on the offensive end. He also added four assists, two steals and a block. Nahshon Sylvester and Schneider Casseus each scored 19 as well with Casseus going 4-4 from deep off the bench, and Sylvester chipping in six rebounds.
Buffalo shot 49.3 percent from the floor and was 17-22 (77.3%) from the free throw line. Despite being slightly out-rebounded 46-42, the Bobcats were able to use team basketball to get in rhythm early. They finished the game with 29 assists. Juniors Armonee Felder and Cameron Watts had 11 and 10 assists respectively to go along with 14 points apiece.
Sophomore Swinton Lee also had the best game of his young career, finishing with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals while going a perfect 5-5 from the floor.
