Bobcats Drop Heartbreaker to Penn State Beaver
BUFFALO, NY - Despite another monster game from senior Kalon Kimble, the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats faltered late, losing a 77-74 contest in the final game of the Bobcat Kickoff Classic on Sunday to Penn State Beaver. Kimble finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, a day after posting 21 points and 16 rebounds in a season-opening win over Penn State Shenango.
Buffalo started strong but faded and saw themselves trailing by 13 early in the second half, but it was the bench that brought the Bobcats back to eventually tie the game and retake the lead. Sophomores Phil Jones Jr. and Swinton Lee scored 10 and 5 points respectively as they combined for 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Senior Victor Caldwell scored a team-high 20 points off the bench for Buffalo.
Buffalo tied the game at 59 with 7:03 left and retook a 64-63 lead with just over four minutes left. Beaver then went on a 7-0 run for the game's final lead change of the day.
Buffalo held a slight edge on the boards 35-31 and each team turned the ball over 14 times.
