BUFFALO, NY - Former Tapestry Charter School standout and All Western New York girls basketball selection, Nia Caver, has joined the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo women's basketball program, Head Coach Brittnee Perry announced on Wednesday. Caver comes to BSC Buffalo after spending her first two college seasons at Baltimore City Community College.
Caver, the 5-foot-10 guard is a versatile athlete who can impact the game on both ends of the floor. She continues a trend set by Perry in her 2020 recruiting class, joining Jasmine Michaux and Armoni Jordan, two more ultra-athletic and dynamic playmakers. Caver can play with and without the ball and is equally good at scoring and distributing.
"Nia is a tremendous player and person," Perry said. "She uses her head on the court and tends to see things before they happen. She can play all five positions and more importantly, she can guard all five positions. She should thrive in our system."
As a sophomore at BCCC, Caver averaged 9.5 points on 46 percent shooting. She started 13 of 22 games and averaged 6.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and totaled 42 steals. She ranked second on the team in rebounding and led the team in assists. She had a season-high 22 and scored in double-figures eight times. She helped lead the Panthers to an 18-11 record. As a freshman, BCCC finished with a 22-8 record as Caver appeared in 28S games and averaged 4.5 points. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and totaled 43 steals.
As a senior at Tapestry, Caver averaged 20.5 points, 15.1 rebounds and 6.4 steals per game. She was a true do-it-all player for Tapestry and in turn was named the Player of the Year in the Charter School League.
