BUFFALO, NY - For the fourth time this season, a member of the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo athletic program has been selected as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Athlete of the Week. On Tuesday morning, senior Jonathan Range was selected as this week's Men's Division I Athlete of the Week. In two games he averaged 23 points and picked up his third double-double of the season.
Range is the Bobcats' leading scorer, averaging 20.5 points per game on 51.5 percent shooting. The senior has played in all 10 games and this past week, started both games and led the team in scoring each game. In a razor-close 79-74 defeat on Tuesday at Erie Community College - who came into the game ranked 12th in the latest NJCAA Division II National Poll - Range scored 21 points and secured 10 rebounds. He had four offensive rebounds, added two steals and went a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line.
In a come-from-behind 86-83 overtime win over Bryant & Stratton Albany on Saturday, Range again was the game's high point man, scoring 25 points and adding five rebounds, two assists, two steals and zero turnovers. He shot 50 percent from the floor in both games this week and was 15-18 from the free throw line.
Range has helped lead the Buffalo Bobcats to an 8-2 record and a #3 ranking in the latest USCAA Division I National Poll. They will close the month of December with two home games on Decmber 20th against Bryant & Stratton Ohio (7:30 pm) and Dceember 22nd against Point Park (12:00 pm).
Range joins Janae Brannon, Mick Snowden and Shamecca Minor as other BSC Buffalo student athletes to earn National Athlete of the Week honors. Range and Brannon were both also named Buffalo Bobcat Athletes of the Month for November.
