The Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats host their second tournament in as many weeks, as they welcome three opposing teams to town for the 3rd Annual Bobcat Bash. The Tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11 & 12 at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
OPENING TIP
The Bobcats split the opening two games of the 2023-24 season during the Bobcat Kickoff Classic this past weekend with an opening win over Penn State Shenango 99-93 on Saturday, and a heartbreaking defeat to Penn State Beaver, 77-74 on Sunday.
ABOUT MAINE FORT KENT
The Bengals have opened the 2023-24 season with losses to Washington County CC and Maine Farmington. They are coming off a dissapointing 2-23 season in 2022-23. UMFK marked the first victory for the Bobcats in 2018 when the program restarted athletics and the basketball program. Buffalo is 2-0 against UMFK all time.
ABOUT CHEYNEY
Sunday will mark the third meeting between the Wolves and Bobcats, with Buffalo holding a perfect 3-0 record. Cheyney has yet to play a game this season and is coming off a 5-21 2022-23 campaign. The last meeting between the two teams came back on February 26th in Buffalo, a game Buffalo won 96-78. Buffalo has an average margin of victory over Cheyney of 14.7 points.

- Senior Kalon Kimble has opened the season with a bang, leading the team in points, rebounds, and steals this season. He is averaging 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game, while also shooting 54.8 percent from the field. He scored 21 points in the win over Penn State Shenango and 16 against Beaver. Through two games, the forward also has seven assists, two blocks and only three turnovers.
- It's been a coming-out party for the youngsters and the bench for Buffalo through two games. Senior Victor Caldwell scored 20 off the bench on Sunday against Beaver. Sophomores Swinton Lee and Phil Jones Jr. have been big as well. Lee is averaging 7.5 points, and scored 10 in the win over Shenango, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the floor. He has yet to miss a shot this season. Jones Jr. played a career-high 28 minutes against Beaver, helping the Bobcats erase a 13-point deficit, scoring 10 points and dishing out 4 assists.
- Newcomer Cameron Watts recorded a double-double in his Buffalo debut on Saturday, scoring 14 points and dishing out 10 assists. He scored just three on Sunday while nursing an injury sustained in Saturday's game.
- Junior Armonee Felder had a career-high 11 helpers in the win over Shenango and is averaging 10 points through two games.
- Sophomore Nahshon Sylvester announced his return after a year away, scoring 29 points over the weekend and going 14-16 from the free throw line.
- Head Coach Damone Brown is now up to 96 career wins in his five-plus seasons with the Bobcats, after leading them to a National Tournament berth in every year the tournament has been played, including two National Championship Game appearances.
- Buffalo is 46-12 at home under Brown.
- Buffalo was without a number of players to start the season as senior Joshua Foote, redshirt-junior Taurus Steele, and sophomore Traveon Orr, all were out of action due to injury.
