Bio

Damone Brown enters his third season as the Director of Athletics and fifth season as head coach of the men's basketball program at Bryant & Stratton Buffalo.  Brown has led the Bobcats to appearances in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament each year, highlighted by a National Runner-Up finish in 2021-22.

In four seasons with the Bobcats, Brown has amassed a 76-36 record.  He has coached 10 USCAA All-Americans and had his team ranked as high as number two in the National Coaches Poll.  This past season, Brown helped the Bobcats achieve a program best 24 wins and a number three seed in the National Tournament.  Since Brown came on board, the Bobcats hold wins over opponents at the NCAA II and III, NAIA I and II, NJCAA and USCAA I and II levels.

Before arriving at BSC Buffalo, Brown served as an assistant coach for three seasons at Villa Maria College (2015-18). As an assistant, Brown helped guide Villa Maria to back-to-back trips to the national tournament in 2017 and 2018.  They advanced to the National Quarterfinal in 2017 and followed that with a trip to the National Championship Game in 2018. 

Brown was a standout at Syracuse University from 1997-2001 before he was drafted in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.  The Buffalo native played for the 76ers, Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets and Washington Wizards.  He also had stints overseas and in the NBA Development League.  He most recently was with the Jacksonville Giants, a professional minor league team of the ABA in 2013.  During his best season in the NBA (2002-03), Brown averaged 23 minutes and 5.6 points per game.

Standing 6-foot-10, Brown had an outstanding career at Seneca Vocational High School, where he was a First Team Yale Cup member and Yale Cup Player of the Year.  He was also named Section VI Player of the Year and was a member of the All Western New York First Team.

Brown received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Informational Science and Technology from Syracuse in 2001.  As a senior, Brown was selected to the Big East First Team while leading the Orange in rebounding.  Brown is also the owner and founder of Damone Brown Pro Training, a training organization aiming to help people between the ages of 6 and 50 build fundamental basketball skills, focusing on individual skill sets and better enhancing them in all areas.  From 2013-15, he also served as an Assistant Coach at East High School in Buffalo. 

Brown currently lives in Buffalo with his two sons Damone Brown Jr. and Da’Shaun Brown, and daughter Brazil.
