Byk Leads Trio of Bobcats on All-America Teams
BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Aidan Byk was one of three Bobcats named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-America Teams that were announced by the Association on Friday. Byk was named to the Second Team, while fellow sophomore Justin Modeste and freshman Chaku Lubanda were both named Honorable Mentions.
Byk led the Bobcats in goals this year, netting nine with three games of at least two. He scored a season-high three goals in a 4-4 draw against Hilbert on October 1st. He scored two goals at Five Towns on September 25th, and against B&SC Albany on 30th in the NACIA Quarterfinals.
Byk was named to second team last season as well, marking the second straight year of honors for the Toronto, Ontario Canada native. He has scored 15 goals in his two year career in Buffalo and added four assists for a 34-point total. He scored nine goals this season while also missing four games due to injury. The nine goals ranked seventh in the USCAA, and his 20 points ranked sixth. He also ranked seventh in total shots.
Modeste was a Second Team All-American last year as well. This year, Modeste took a different approach, not having to shoulder such a heavy scoring load, but rather contributing in a multitude of ways that benefited the team as a whole, and some of the younger players. He still finished the season with six goals, bringing his career total to 14. He ranked eighth in the USCAA in shots. He had two multi-goal games as well in two wins against PSU Greater Allegheny and B&SC Albany.
Freshman Chaku Lubanda was also named as an Honorable Mention All-American after an impressive first season which saw him net eight goals and assist on four. He finished with 20 points and had two multi-goal games.
Buffalo finished the season 4-8-3, advancing to the NACIA Semifinals but falling to top-seeded B&SC Rochester and missing out on a National Tournament bid.
