Women's Basketball Announces Season Award Winners
BUFFALO, NY - The Bryant & Stratton Buffalo women's basketball program announced it's end of the season awards on Thursday morning. After junior Alissa Johnson was named the Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, Head Coach Brittnee Perry announced the team awards highlighted by Team Most Valuable Player, Shamecca Minor.

After junior Alissa Johnson was named the Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, Head Coach Brittnee Perry announced the team awards highlighted by Team Most Valuable Player, Shamecca Minor.
The Bobcats finished their inaugural season 22-7 and had wins over NCAA, NAIA and USCAA competition. In her first season, Perry coached three First Team All-Americans (Johnson, Minor and Janae Brannon). She announced her team awards which are all listed below.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - Shamecca Minor
Minor led the team in scoring (18.8) and ranked sixth nationally. She shot nearly 37 percent from beyond the arc and 72 percent from the free throw line. She started 27 of 29 games this season and scored in double-figures in all but three games. She scored a season-high 33 points in a win at Five Towns College on December 7th. That same week she was honored as the USCAA Female Athlete of the Week.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - Alexus Pagan
Pagan was honored as the USCAA Women's Division I National Student-Athlete of the Year for her improvement on the court and her work off the court working with foster children and local officials on plans and ideas to help these kids. The true freshman had her minutes, points, rebounds, steals and production raise as the season progressed. She finished the season averaging 2.4 points on 58 percent shooting. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds and finished with 30 steals.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Janae Brannon
Brannon was selected as a First Team All-American after averaging nearly a triple-double. She averaged 10.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 9.2 rebounds. She was a wrecking ball on the defensive end as well, totaling 3.8 steals per game. She constantly guarded the other team's best player regardless of postition.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR - Mecca Camille
Freshman Mecca Camille started 18 of 27 games for the Bobcats and averaged 6.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She also totaled 46 steals and 39 blocks. Over 25 percent of her rebounds came on the offensive end. She scored a season-high 18 points on Febuary 6th in a win at Vaughn College.
6TH MAN OF THE YEAR - Shannon Bandoo
Shannon Bandoo came off the bench in 23 games this year and provided the Bobcats with a tremendous amount of energy and effort. She averaged 3.6 points, two rebounds and over an assist per game. She played nearly 16 minutes per game and totaled 18 steals. She had a season-high 24 on Febuary 6th in a win at Vaughn College.
