BUFFALO, NY - It didn't take long for records to be set as the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats opened their first game of the season on a 28-0 run en route to a dominating 100-23 win on Saturday night as part of the Bobcat Kickoff Classic. It was the first shutout quarter in program history and the 28-0 run marked the longest scoreless run in program history as well. Senior Kat Kanhoye scored a game-high 22 and fellow senior Charm Stone dominated with 15 points and 18 rebounds.
Buffalo has now won each of it's four season openers dating back to the program's inception in 2019. The 77-point margin marked the largest margin of victory. Kanhoye, selected as the Vaden Athletic Conference Preseason Co-Player of the Year, was 9-of-18 from the floor and made four threes. She also added seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals.
"Today was a great day for our ladies and our team," Head Coach Brittnee Perry said. "To be back on the floor always brings with it jitters and emotions. Our ladies came out and played hard which is all I ask of them. We have unfinished business. We came up short of our ultimate goal last year. In order to make sure that doesn't happen again, we need to treat every single game with a "win or go home" mentality."
Stone was dominant on both ends of the floor, continuing her continued improvement for the Bobcats during her tenure. In addition to her 15 points and 18 rebounds, she added four steals and three blocks. Junior guard Armoni Jordan, who entered the game 27 points shy of 1,000 in her career, scored 20 on 9-of-16 shooting while also adding four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Buffalo shot 53 percent from the floor and held Andrews to just 13 percent, while also forcing 24 turnovers leading to 35 points. The Bobcats also held a significant advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Cardinals 62-28. Junior transfer Chy Isom had a stellar debut as well for Buffalo, finishing with a double double - 10 points and 12 rebounds - off the bench.
