Bobcats Run Out of Gas Late, Fall to WVU Tech
BECKLEY, WV - After holding a halftime lead, and showing it belonged with a formidable NAIA opponent, the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats ran out of gas in the closing minutes, eventually dropping a 76-57 contest to WVU Tech in the final game of the Golden Bear Classic on Saturday.
Buffalo falls to 0-2 on the season but has faced two of the NAIA's best on the road to open the season, something Head Coach Brittnee Perry said is very important to building up her team.
"This schedule was made this way on purpose," she said. "In past years we have opened with a fairly easy schedule, played mostly at home. I think that has sometimes worked against us and we had gotten complacent early based on some wide margin wins. This trip is going to help our team build character and really gives us something to strive for. We wont play two teams better than these two back to back again this year."
Senior Saige Roberts scored a team high 16 for Buffalo as junior Ashlynn Johnson chipped in 11. Chy Isom also had 11 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists off the bench. The Golden Bears held a 59-42 rebounding advantage. Alva Hedrich secured 23 rebounds to go along with 17 points for WVU Tech.
